ASSIGNMENTS & GRADES
Your final grade will be made up of the following:
* Three papers. 20 points each = 60 points. You will be required to write academic-style research papers based on readings and discussions. Specific prompts, as well as page-length and style requirements will be distributed no later than 10 days before the due date.
* Engagement/Attendance. 30 points. This grade is determined by your critical and respectful engagement, as well as your preparation for and participation in class.
* Presentation. 10 points. Here is how to do it.

A = Outstanding: Exceptional theoretical understanding and application of basic principles and concepts; papers are fully developed using concepts and evidence examined in course material -- and beyond -- and include thorough, critical, and independent thought – Yes, I want to hear your opinions, but they must be well supported by both course and outside resources. Organized, clean, concise copy that correctly utilizes grammar, punctuation and usage.
B = Very Good-Good: Thorough theoretical understanding and application of basic principles and concepts; presentations/papers are completed using some concepts and evidence examined in course material and include some critical and independent thought. Mostly clean and concise copy that, for the most part, utilizes proper grammar, punctuation and usage.
C = Above Average-Average: Adequate understanding of basic principles and concepts that meets minimum requirements, offering little in the way of innovative theoretical understanding or application; presentations/papers are completed using relative concepts and evidence examined in course material. Some grammatical or usage errors; writing is loose and the point/thesis comes in and out of focus.
D = Below Average: Inadequate and incomplete understanding of basic arguments and concepts; presentations/papers lack a clear thesis and provide little supporting argumentation and evidence. Many grammatical or usage errors; writing mostly lacks focus.
F = Poor: Little to no understanding of basic terms and arguments; presentation/writing is error-riddled and lacks structure and clarity.
