PROFESSOR'S CONTACT INFORMATION
Email: molly.yanity@quinnipiac.edu Twitter: @mollyyanity | @QUjournalism Class hashtag: #JRN589 Spring 2021 OFFICE HOURS (CCE 267 or Zoom) Mondays (10 a.m.-noon), Tuesdays & Thursdays (10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) *Office hours are typically drop-in, but because of social distancing requirements, I request students make appointments this semester. ** For this class, it is required you keep informed of current events in sports. However, staying on top of your fantasy football team, or memorizing the stats of the Boston Red Sox players is not what your professor has in mind. Rather, pay attention to what is happening off the field. Issues the media have covered the last several years include domestic violence, sexual assault, concussions and other athletes' health-related issues, labor disputes, gender discrepancies, tax-payer subsidized stadia/arenas, massive TV contracts and more. To stay up to date, start by following the following journalists: Shireen Ahmad, Steve Berkowitz, Howard Bryant, Julie DiCaro, Mike Freeman, Lindsay Gibbs, Jemele Hill, Patrick Hruby, Jessica Luther and Dave Zirin. |
