Articles to read - and a little guidance - to improve your writing
During the summer of 2016, I put together 10 mini-lessons for students (or whomever!) to help improve their writing skills. There are articles to read in each lesson. Some are short, some are long. Regardless, they are all great stories and I add some context, nuggets of info and things I learned from my career as a sports journalist.
I hope you'll take advantage of these, enjoy the readings and get better. Start at Week 1 (the bottom of the page) and work your way to Week 10. If you want someone to talk to about what you've read, email or tweet at me. I love to discuss great writing.
Week 10: The little things count (8/8/16)
Week 9: When you're passionate... (7/25/16)
Week 8: Understanding others (7/18/16)
Week 7: What to leave in, what to leave out (7/14/16)
Week 6: Make your words sing (7/5/16)
Week 5: Become the expert (6/27/16)
Week 4: What is truth? (6/20/16)
Week 3: A picture is worth a thousand words, but it needs your help (6/6/16)
Week 2: The room where it happens (Relay the scene) (5/31/16)
Week 1: Short & sweet vignettes: Go small, or go home (5/23/16)
