Lost children, separating families: What does the United States truly value?

Fifteen hundred children “missing." MISSING.

As a nation, we don’t want to give what is “ours” away. Democrats, I was recently told, want to give it all away. We shouldn't pay for foreigners, those who don’t pay their own way, criminals or prisoners. Education, health care, housing. Not our responsibility.

Yet, yet we separate children from their parents and then “lose” them?

And, we think THAT is fiscally responsible? Because these children who’ve been lost will grow up to be healthy, adjusted, responsible people who contribute to society? Because children who have been forced into slavery, trafficked for sex or run away to the streets aren't costly on nearly every level?

Never mind the complete lack of humanity this showcases. Never mind how these morally bankrupt practices display the absolute opposite of “christian” values -- Love? Charity? Compassion? Not an ounce.

All I’m pointing out is the reactive, short-sighted, disgusting and hypocritical fact of what is the primary American value -- selfishness.
